I got invited to fill in a survey on the health effects of mobile phone usage. The last fifteen minutes have been spent filling in information on how often I get headaches. I find it ironic that the only thing that genuinely gives me a headache is staring at a computer screen, filling in forms.

Also, job applications give a headache, but here we go again.

Oh, and I now have the beginnings of a headache. Irony can be painful.

I love cycling, and have the utmost respect for Lance Armstrong for what he's achieved. My world would be thrown seriously out of whack if any of the accusations against him were ever confirmed. The latest are available here courtesy of a confirmed doper stripped of his Tour title after testing positive for one of the many substances he admits to taking.

Put simply, its bullshit until someone shows me, and more importantly WADA , 2 seperate positive tests from the same sample for Lance Armstrong. Until then, all the doubters and cheaters and losers can shut the hell up.

Most of the student population around me are whinging about having to live under the Tories for 4 or so years. They're also whinging about electoral reform, mostly advocating some kind of PR.

According to the pure numbers, straight PR would make the BNP the 4th largest party in the country, bigger than the SNP and Plaid Cmyru with a 2% share of the vote. So we'd end up with 12 racists in parliament.

I know that this system would never come in as is, but still. Its important to understand what you're advocating.

Oh, and the Tories would have roughly 234 MPs. We'd still be waiting for them all to make their minds up. I should probably point this out to the whingers.

Oh, and as an aside, if we had any kind of PR, it would involve parties nominating their MPs to some extent, so all the people who voted to get rid of MPs like Jacqui Smith or Shahid Malik becaues they felt that they weren't serving the public interest but their own, would have to watch some of those MPs walking back into Parliament, despite repulsing enough of their own party supporters that they lost in landslides.

Woo, roll on Thursday so I can, er, spoil my ballot paper/vote for Scargill/roll it up and smoke it...... i dunno, delete as applicable.

This might be helpful tho, a listing of the party leaders pop culture/cultural influences. Gordon Brown likes X Factor and Coldplay. As if I needed more reasons to dislike the guy. Cameron doesnt seem to have too many rubbish habits, but I'm no great Radiohead fan, which leaves us with Clegg, who meditates and enjoys Come Dine with Me and dunking Rich Tea biscuits. Seriously, Rich Tea?? Muppet.

So I'm back to square one, they all irritate me to a greater or lesser extent and it boils down to a coin toss, except of course I live in Nick Cleggs constituency, so I either vote for him, of have a nap.... Oohh, theres an option I like.

I've just had a nice relaxing weekend getting absolutely smashed repeatedly as a big blow out after April managed to be really busy and lacking in down-time.

Mostly due to the half marathon training, final time 1 hr 42mins, about 7 minutes quicker than last time with less extensive training, partly due to a long list of birthdays to go to. So I was happy with that. I did feel like shit afterward tho... the pre-race diet of beer and bbq food is not something I'd recommend.

This weekend was the unions beer festival. :-D 4 nights of heavy drinking lots of nice and or interesting beers. Personal favourite was a rum porter that tasted of Sailor Jerrys (old style) and a staff social to Pop Tarts. I'm not going to drink for a while now.

I need to find another race to keep me interested in training, which doesn't clash with any play-off matches. Hopefully I'll be down in London at the end of the month for the play-off final at Wembley.

AOB - not much progress has been made recently on finding a better job, but now I've got a bit more time to look at it, I should be able to crack on. The only other plan I have right now is to go climbing again and see Iron Man 2 at some point.

I just lost the last 20 hours straight of my life to Assassin's Creed 2. I'm going to sleep now.

"I WANT THIS JOB COS IT PAYS BETTER THAN THE ONE I HAVE."

This is the one sentence I cant write on any job application. Amusing, as its the one that is most accurate. Instead I have to copy/paste my fucking CV to every one and then bugger around making up some half-arsed bullshit about my 'Personal Specification' to make me seem like the best man/woman/goldfish/half-trained monkey for the job.

Other sentences I cant get away with include 'Just let me do it for a week, and if I cant do it by then, I wont ever be able to do it', 'I dont ever want to serve another fucking muppet student as long as I live', 'Just give me the fucking job already' and 'I get to play with shiny things right?'

/rant

Time to finish the bullshitting before the alcohol kicks in and I forget to delete the stuff I shouildn't type.

x-posted from facebook, so apologies if you've seen this before. I'm running 6 miles for charity, and they always appreciate sponsorship-ness, so thanks in advance.
23rd-Feb-2010 07:50 pm - New Job
So I didnt get the job. The bloke who interviewed me rang me this evening to let me know.

Put simply, the guy who got the job had previous experience, and I dont, which was apparently the only reason. However, they are going to keep my details on file and if anything comes up in the future that they can offer me, I'll get a phone call. So its not all bad.

Now to jump on the NHS website and apply for some pharmacy based work.

'A future fair for all'?

Descriptor, then noun, not the other way around. I'm now expecting another Millenium Dome filled with clowns and high wire acts. Well done Labour. *facepalm*
